Well, it's the first day of maternity leave! I'm officially disabled on a short term basis, so I should be getting my disability check from Uncle Sam soon. It' s weird not to worry about work; yes, I've checked my work email three times already today! Old habits are hard to break. I feel confident that everything will be okay while I"m out though...the best idea I had was to hire an intern for the summer!! We ended up hiring a friend of mine from school, and I know he's going to be a huge help while I'm out over the summer, and it sounds like he's getting exactally the experience he wanted for summer work. So it's great! I can leave with relatively little guilt that I've dumped on my coworkers. :) Anyway, enough about work, the category of this entry is "Baby!" so let's get to the subject at hand!!
First, a big CONGRATULATIONS to my hoya buds that are pregnant! Just in case they don't want to be acknowledged by name, I'll keep in on the DL, but you know who you are. It's so exciting! At our 10 year, we'll all be ragged and tired and covered in strained peas. I can't wait!
As for me, the countdown has begun to the due date of May 19. I have a werid feeling I'll be early. We checked the lunar cycle and it's a full moon the week before, so I'm guessing I'll go around the 12th. Hopefully not any earlier than that, my last class is on May 8! My profs have been cool thus far, so even if I miss the last class, it shouldn't be an issue at all. I'm getting excited! A bit nervous too... I went to my friend's baby shower last weekend, and she had a friend who had a 10month old who had the largest head I've ever seen on a baby. I could hardly look at him, I kept imagining Baby O with that size noggen and just how painful it would be! She ended up having to get a c-section at the last minute. I know, labor is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. (I just made that up, aren't I clever?) Anyway, for the most part I"m excited, even though I know it's going to be challenging, but it'll all be worth it.
I've got a few pictures to share, click on...
My work friends are the best gals in the world, and they threw me a surprise baby shower last week! I ruined the surprise, though, because I came down with a cold mid last week, so they had to tell me about it to get me in the office on Friday. The good thing was that Cory could come with me, so it was fun to have him there! Anyway, I don't have any pics of the actual shower, but my friend made me a diaper cake, and I had to take a picture of it! In fact, I think I'm going to leave it all put together for a while because it's so cute! And they say accountants can't be crafty... anyway, here it is:

Isn't it cool?? It's going to be in Baby O's room till she's 18... :)
Next pic takes a little explaining as well... last fall, my sister's first gift to me as a pregnant gal was a plaster cast kit so Cory & I can record just how large my boobs and belly got! So we decided to do it yesterday. Quite an experience! I highly recommend draping your kitchen in plastic, stripping naked and having your loved one splatter plaster molding on your oiled up body. Nothing says love quite like it. :) Anyway, we're going to go get some paints sometime and decorate it a bit, I'll post another pic after it's all done. We also are going to sign the inside "Baby O was here..." (but with her real name, you didn't think I'd slip and give it up, did ya?) Here it is...

I didn't stuff, my boobs are really that big. And apparrently after my milk comes in, they'll grow 2x their current size. Ack!! And I still have an inny belly button...I don't think it'll pop out!
And finally, here's a few pics of the nursery. It's kinda junky right now...most things have their place, but the crib and changing table are storage bins right now, as they aren't quite in use. The last two pics show our current babies, who can't quite figure out what all the fuss is about.

Ollie's been a good boy lately, still the same old personality quirks, but he's okay. He has been getting progressively more protective of me...I can't even get out of the car at the dog park, or he spends his hour there keeping all the other dogs away from me. We've decided Cory can take him to the dog park, and I can take him to the hills to run around, because we're largely by ourselves there.
Okay, I'll sign off now! I'm sure I'll be blogging more and more as the countdown continues... bye!
