She's here! She's here!!

And she's a she!! (I had a dream the night before that she was a he and I started spray painting everything blue...) Anyway, as I mentioned, our baby girl, has finally arrived. Here's her stats:
Name: Audrey Jane Omand
DOB: Wednesday May 24 at 10:20pm
Weight: 8 pounds, 8 ounces
Length: 21 inches
She's an angel, truly. The whole birthing experience was intense, but amazing at the same time. Inducing was the way to go...I'm glad I didn't wait for her to get any larger, she was hard enough to get out as it was. We were in the hospital by 9am, I got an epidural at around 6pm, and I was ready to push at 8pm! I went from 5cm to 10cm between 6pm and 8pm, which was a surprise because we were prepared to be there all night and deliver in the wee morning hours. In fact, at 8pm when the nurse said I was at 10cm and ready to push, Cory had taken his only break of the day to go to the cafeteria to eat his dinner! We were frantically trying to find him (at that point, I was wishfully thinking that I would only need to push three times...ha!). Of course, crisis averted, he came back in plenty of time. My doctor wasn't even there until about 9:30, so it was all good.
Anyway, I'll have to sprinkle in more gory details later, as it's time to feed the little one from my troughs of milky goodness. Don't have time right now to post pics, but I'll definately be doing so soon as we've been camera crazy new parents, to be expected!!

C'mon already!!

Still no baby. I know it's before my due date, so I shouldn't complain, but I thought for sure I'd go by now. Especially with the "signs" last week, but that's the only predictable thing about childbirth, that it's unpredictable. I took a long walk this morning, so maybe that'll get things moving. It's a little cooler today, so I may go out for another walk later on. Although walking without Ollie is lonely! My mom took him back to the ranch on Tuesday, so that we wouldn't have to worry about him when we go into labor. I just hope it happens soon so that he won't be gone for like two weeks! We shall see. We did go ahead and sign up to be induced next Tuesday...if not then, we'd need to wait until the following Tuesday, May 30, and that's just too long. We figured it would be safer to get her out before she gets too big and unruly for a V-delivery! From all my reading, it doesn't sound like inducing is any big deal, it's just that it takes longer, or at least seems so because you must be at the hospital throughout all of early labor, rather than getting through that portion at home. Oh well, it will still be nice to have things move along. I'm officially done with everything I needed to do, so now I'm just twiddling my thumbs. I may go see a movie by myself this afternoon, I haven't decided. We shall see! Anyway, hopefully I'll be in labor soon, please send positive labor vibes to Fremont if you get a chance, I'll take anything I can get!!

Happy Mother's Day!

We had a very nice mother's day yesterday, even though I haven't quite made motherhood yet. But I'm close, as the pictures will reveal...any day now! I actually thought last Friday was it...I had some signs, I won't gross you out with the details, but the signs stopped and it's been business as usual since then. Oh well, should be soon, I know! Anyway, the whole family came up for mother's day yesterday, my parents, and Allison, Roland & Mia. It was fun! Since we just got our new patio in, we had brunch on our new patio furniture. The only issue was that it was blazing hot, I think it got to the mid 90's here yesterday. Ugh! Sometimes I couldn't tell if it was just me or if it really was that hot, but I think it really was that hot. We all survived. We filled up Ollie's little pool with clean water and Mia splashed around a bit. It was fun! Plus Allison brought her dog Tucker so Ollie had a wonderful time. Ollie was also super good with Mia, Cory & I were both worried he would be his normal freaked-out self, especially now that she's walking and having her in our house on "his" turf. But I think having Tucker there mellowed him out a bunch, and he was fine. It also helps that she kind of goes about her own thing and doesn't yell "doggie!" and run toward him, that freaks him out. When strangers ignore him he's fine. Anyway, I'm planning on taking him to my mom's house tomorrow...he's going to have an extended rancho vacation till the baby comes, I just think it will give me peace of mind to know he's having fun rather then worrying about him being at the house all alone for two days while we have the baby at the hospital. Plus, it'll be nice to come home and not have to worry about him for the first few days either...a friend recommended we give ourselves some adjustment time, and I think that's a good idea. I just hope I'm not terribly late, because I don't want him gone for like two weeks! Oh well...click on for a few pics...

Moving right along...

Warning: stop reading if discussions of nether regions (specifically mine) bother you. I feel the need to PSA everything; I started talking to one of my coworkers about dialation and he just about threw up. I just don't know who is okay to talk to about these things. I also had a lengthy conversation with a (male) classmate of mine about breastfeeding. I guess since his wife went through it recently, he wasn't as embarassed to talk about my boobs to me. I just don't know anymore!! Well anyway, I went to the doctor yesterday and I'm 1cm dialated and 60% effaced! So I'm moving right along. Still hard to say when the blessed event will actually happen, could be within a week, but I could stay 1cm dialated for a few weeks. I have a hunch it'll be sometime next week. I've only got a few more "must do" things before hand...I'm almost done with my take-home final for one of my classes. I'm having a hard time getting motivated to just finish the darn thing! But I know I'd better do so BB (before baby) or I'll just have to turn it in as it is, because my brain will be mush and I won't be able to write the last two pages! I'm sure it'll all be okay.
