one week down, 18 years to go...

First, here's my horoscope for today:

It's difficult for you to find relief when the waves of thoughts and feelings just keep rolling in. Now that wordy Mercury has entered the watery world of Cancer, you are more able to connect with others by sharing your emotions. However, don't expect the intensity to dissipate, even if it becomes easier to express your heart for the next few weeks.

How true! I've been quite moody lately, which I know is to be expected. So much has changed, and as much as I love it, it's also just a lot to take in. Cory has been great at dealing with me and my emotions; I don't know how much worse it would be if I had a less understanding husband! All in all, though, I know to count my lucky stars, because Audrey has been, for the most part, a pretty dreamy baby. So many typical problems a lot of new moms have we've avoided -- breast feeding is going pretty well, she's gaining weight, she sleeps pretty well and pretty much anywhere. The only big problem is afternoon crankiness, which I guess is typical in babies. They say babies get overwhelmed at around 4 - 8pm "Happy Hour" right as dad gets home from work and mom is trying to get dinner on the table, etc. She's definately a crankipuss around that time, and it's difficult to find the thing that would calm her down. Mostly it's to keep moving, but by that time in the afternoon all I want to do is sit down!! Oh well, I'll just have to get used to afternoon walks around the block, or a drive. Those always seem to settle her down.

This afternoon we have our first photo shoot! I found a photographer that takes great infant shots. We were thinking about doing maternity pics, but I decided I'd rather have some really nice professional baby shots instead. The photographer is coming at 2pm...hopefully she won't go into cranky mode early today. I'll post a link to all the proofs when they are online!

Cory's last day at Sun was yesterday...kinda crazy! If you didn't know, he's accepted an engineering position at Pixar. He's thrilled about it, and we're all thrilled for him. Pixar is supposed to be one of the funnest companies in the bay area to work for, and I think he'll get a lot out of it. He was sad to leave Sun, he's done alot there, but they just announced they will lay off another 5 thousand people, plus they are shutting down the Newark campus so he would have to commute to Santa Clara or Menlo Park. Even though commuting to Emeryville isn't any picnic, when I go back to work we'll be able to commute together, so that makes me happy!!

And of course, I can't resist posting more photos. Here's some highlights of week 1 in Audrey's life...

We took her on her first walk on the back path, here she is all bundled up (even though it's 70 degrees out!)

And her first bath...the necessary hooded towel shot:

And a few more, just lying around lookin' cute!!

And here's one with Iggy...it's amazing how big he looks, and how small she is!

That's it for now...gotta go feed the hungry baby!!
