Little Miss Poopy Pants

I diverted from my normal topic of Audrey, Audrey and more Audrey the past few posts, so I must get back to my narcissistic ways. My little girl is learning about consolidation from her MBA mommy...she's decided, instead of pooping a little bit each day, to hold it all inside for three days and then have a big blowout that requires a hose and goggles to clean up. Yep, and today's blowout was at dinner, when daddy noticed an oh so innocent stain on her pants which, upon further investigation, turned out to be the poop that was seeping out of her diaper and down her leg. Oh yeah, by the way, this blog contains descriptions of a graphic nature and one should use caution before reading, especially if one is about to embark upon eating...at least I didn't take a picture of it and then blog that. No, we just promptly paid the bill, came home, and took a bath. Crisis averted...until Tuesday, when we do it all again...

Okay, I promised I'd only talk about the baby, but I just have to blog this one thing:

That's a chalk drawing! Cory found this site, and this guy is amazing. He does these chalk sidewalk drawings in 3D that look really really cool, you can see the rest at http://www.thepuzzlefactory.com/2006_chalk.cfm

Mommy blogs

I just read in SF Magazine that "Mommy Blogs" are an actual thing that, I suppose, I'm a part of. They also said they were the most narcissistic of all the blogs. Hmph. Well I guess it's true, you can't really brag about yourself so much, but you somehow feel it's open season for bragging about your child, and it's probably pretty annoying to the outside world. I hope I don't end up like my mom; she bragged to a waiter that I went to Georgetown, when we were actually in a restaurant in Georgetown and most college age kids actually did attend the school. Of course, I think it was less bragging on her part and more trying to score me a date, she was always good at that. :) Anyway, I hope you see my blog as less egotistical and more informative on my (and Audrey's) life. If you don't, well, stop reading!!

Yes, two entries in one day, it really is amazing. There isn't anything on TV and it's too late to read my homework, and I'm desperately trying to stay busy so I won't dash out to Walgreens and buy some Dibs. I'm trying to lose the weight I put on with reckless abandon the past year. I performed the experiment "which of my pre-prego pants actually fit me" the other day, and it's an abysmal 3 out of 10 pair. And we don't have any money to go shopping, so I need to get serious about this waist trimming down thing or I will return to work pantsless, which will surely get me fired. This whole wardrobe limited by my girth is exacerbated by the fact that I've watched Stacey and Clinton far too much (on What Not to Wear on TLC, get with it!), therefore I feel the need to follow all the rules and dress smart when I go back to work. Dress for the job you want, not the job you have, right? Well, even the job I have I haven't been dressing for, my official title is "Manager of Strategic Projects." That should require at least nice khaki's and blouses, right? No more trying to scrape by with jeans and sketchers that are really tennis shoes made out of black pleather. Oh, the dilemmas one faces when one wants to ascend to the upper executive echelons of the ice cream dynasty that is Dreyer's. Ugh, now I'm thinking about Dibs again...

Random things from the Web

Gotta love middle america...(my apologies to friends who reside in the middle)

Cory also sent me an interesting site the other day. He does this thing called "Stumble Upon" which I guess pulls up random websites for your viewing pleasure. He usually comes up with some fun stuff, although it's mildly annoying when he's doing it on the couch when I'm trying to watch a movie. (Isn't it fun to be told you're annoying on my blog, honey? :) )Anyway, here's a link:http://zonezero.com/magazine/essays/diegotime/time.html
Neato, huh? I'm thinking about doing it, check back in forty years.

Happy Labor Day!

This weekend is the weekend of sloth for us Omands. We've so far managed to play on our play mat and watch bad 80's movies with our long weekend. Which has been great! I did a little photo shoot of Audrey the other day, here are a few pics:

We've been taking some video too, but we still haven't been able to capture her cute little giggle! Anyway, the thumbsucking is really working out for us. I've been experimenting with putting her to sleep. It used to take an hour of wrapping her up burrito style and walking and shhing her. Last night, we just waited till she was tired (which ended up to be 9:45, well past her 8pm bed time). I put her in her crib and let her cry while I stood there to console her, and after about 5 minutes she sucked her thumb to sleep. Daytime naps have been easier too...I've just left her in her crib and she falls asleep, doesn't even need to be swaddled so much anymore! So I think we're slowly getting the hang of it! Here's a not to great shot of her and her magical thumb:
