School Days...

So, while most kids get excited about summer because it means no school, my little one is excited because she just started school! We just enrolled Audrey at a Montessori school; she's a "Honeybee" with other 2 to 3 year olds, and so far she's loving it. On her first day last week, I spent a half hour there with her in the morning. When I started to prepare her for my leaving by saying "Honey, mommy's going to leave in 10 minutes..." she gave me a kiss, grabbed my hand led me to the door, saying "Bye Mommy!" And that was that! Not a tear shed, until I picked her in the afternoon - they had just gotten out to the playground, so she didn't want to leave yet! I'm sad she's growing up so fast, but happy she's so independent and outgoing that she doesn't get frazzled in new situations. Even though sometimes it's hard leaving her every day, I feel like she is always well cared for and she is learning from all of the experiences she has, even if they aren't 100% with me. The plight of a working mom... Well, my ice cream just arrived...what a good husband I have!

Always a flower girl...

We just got back from a 5 day trip to Canada for Cory's brothers' wedding, and we had a great time! It was a wonderful wedding, even though Audrey managed to trip on her feet again and split her lip open again. At least all the pictures were taken already, without a fat lip! Anyway, we recovered quickly and ended up dancing the night away until about 11pm. We thought we had one tired little cookie and she would actually sleep in, but no, she was up at 7am rarin' to go the next morning!!

Here's a few pics of our fun weekend wedding!!

"I'm ready for my closeup..."

"Aunty Shannon, you want me to walk AND toss petals out of my basket??"

We kinda had to battle to get Audrey to sit still for the photos, we realized she literally had to sit on the little stool the photographer had. I think we got a few good ones!

Audrey and her flower-girl partner in crime, Makayla, liked Aunty Shannon's veil

The Omands are all fancied up!!

Okay, it's off to bed for me...vacation is over and I've got a board meeting tomorrow!! ;)

Mee Mouse!! Okay!!

We had an excellent weekend at Disneyland!! We took an impromptu vacation to fantasyland and beyond, since all Pixar employees could ride the new Toy Story ride at California Adventure a few weeks before it opened. So we packed up and took off Friday night and just got back Sunday night for a whirlwind 50 hour trip. I'll give you the play by play below...

So we got to the hotel at 11pm on Friday, but Audrey still woke up at 6am rarin' to go! Even Friday night when I told her we were at Mickey Mouses house, she said "Mee Mouse! Okay!" as though we were gonna go party with him that night. We got a scant few hours of sleep, and hit our first ride, the Nemo ride, at 8am. Here she is, excited in line for her first ride. Nemo was a great ride, and everyone in the sub was laughing because she just kept shouting "Nemo! Yay! Bubbles!!" with such exuberance.

She also loved the Dumbo ride!! We took about 10 failed pictures, because we were goin' so fast, but you can kinda get the idea with this one... she was screaming "Hi Daddy!!" the whole time!

Audrey also loves trains, so the Casey Jr. ride. Here she is sayin' "All Aboard!" to all the passengers!

And here she is with Daddy on the carousel. This time she was screaming "Hi Mommy!" as she whizzed by. Some random man came up to me and said "Is that your daughter in the pink shirt? She just looks like she's having such a wonderful time!"

As much as we loved all the rides, we had a little warming up to do with the characters... here she is quite wary of Goofy ("Goosy," as she liked to call him.) The first morning, while having breakfast, Chip and Dale were around, and she was terrified. In the park, she was interested in Goofy and Mickey and Minnie, but still a little too nervous to touch them when we got up there. By the end of the trip, she actually kissed Mickey on the nose, so we finally figured out they were there for good and not evil. ;)

Here we are, a bit nervous of Minnie, even though we have many Minnie dolls!!

Over at California Adventure, we spent some time cooling off in the water park at a Bug's Life Land!

And here we are on the Caterpillar ride, or "allupita" in Spanish (although I know I'm spelling it wrong) as Auntie Ana taught us. We decided it was too baby for us, we like our trains going a bit faster!

We spent some time with Uncle Toddy and Auntie Ana, they met us at California Adventure and snuck them on the new Toy Story ride. They watched Audrey while Cory & I went on Tower of Terror, which was great!

And yep, we got a little exhausted in the middle of the afternoon, but we took a little siesta on Mommy's lap to recharge for the Pixar parade!

So on Saturday night, we were excited to come across the parade at California Adventure, which was dedicated to all Pixar movies!! You can see Nemo, Ratatouille, Toy Story, The Incredibles, and a Bugs Life! Up above, Cory and Audrey were giving thumb's up to Buzz Lightyear. After the parade, we had a nice dinner at a restaurant at the park, and decided to have a little dance party outside afterwards. Audrey was saying "C'mon Uncle! C'mon Auntie!" while boogying down, and that's when it happened...her little legs were so tired from the big day, she ate it big time and smashed her chin into the pavement, cutting her lip. It was bleeding quite badly, so we took a trip to Mickey's infirmary and got a prescription for a Popsicle. All she really wanted was a tortilla, though, so I wrangled our way into the last tour of the Mission Tortilla Factory at CA Adv and got her a free sample. Ugh, trauma! Mostly for Mommy and Daddy, she was still raring to go, with just a fat lip, but it didn't slow her down any the next day...

Here we are the next day, with our ears on at Pooh Corner!

And a great family photo with Mickey, the last day, when Audrey finally gave him a kiss on the nose.

Whew, so as you can see, it was a great action packed weekend. I hadn't been to Disneyland proper in forever, and it was funny how small it seemed, kinda like going back to your elementary school and remembering how big the hallways were when you were small. It was so much fun being there with Audrey and watching her take it all in. We definitely did it right to stay at the hotel right in the park, so we could go back and nap and relax so that we would be refreshed for the afternoon. We also took a couple missteps, like taking Audrey on Pirates of the Caribbean - she spent the whole ride with her hands over her eyes, and when we were leaving the ride she said "All done scared. Bye bye scared." She was also pretty scared of Alice in Wonderland and Pinnochio - you don't realize just how messed up these stories are!! Turning boys into donkeys? And a mean ole' queen saying "Off with their heads!" Nightmares! And these rides were actually made for two year olds!

So I highly recommend Disneyland, if you couldn't tell. We had a great time!

(And BTW Kat, sorry, we had to do a surgical strike to fit it all in!! Sorry no side trip to Chino Hills... :( )
